Rubin N. Morris, Jr. (Rudy), 73, husband of Brenda M. Morris, died peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at McLeod Hospital of Florence. Born on June 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Nelson and Onie Morris. Rudy was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran who took great pride in serving his country as a helicopter mechanic. The son of a farmer, Rudy spent his life farming row crops and eventually pine timber while working as a full-time agricultural appraiser covering the area throughout South Carolina. After retiring from appraisals, he took the opportunity to continue to farm full-time and also enjoyed gardening tomatoes, cucumbers and cultivating pecan trees. Rudy was a quiet man who spent most of his time with his wife and daughter whom he loved very much. He treasured lunches shared with his wife on the front porch while watching his hummingbirds and other wildlife. Always a patient teacher, he appreciated his daughter’s ability to quickly learn something from him. He delighted in visits with his two grand pups, Bella a beagle, and BusyKenzie a labrador retriever. You could always count on Rudy to complete any job he took on. He was a strong and gentle man blessed to be capable to proficiently use his analytical mind as well as his calloused working hands. His wife and daughter have always thought him to be a special, hard-working, devoted husband and father. He was an awesome person that always knew God was in control. As we mourn his loss on earth, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace with our Heavenly Father now. Brenda and Rudy would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. Rudy is survived by his wife, Brenda, and his daughter, Ginger. A private graveside service was held at Clarendon Memorial Gardens in Manning, SC with Pastor Condy Richardson officiating. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the family will not receive visitors. Memorials may be made to Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, 206 N. Weston St., Fountain Inn, SC 29644. We thank Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home and Crematory of Sumter for being in charge of arrangements.
