Obituary of Dickie Knight

Dewey “Dickie” Edward Knight, 89, widower of Elizabeth “Betty” Knight, died Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Bennettsville, SC, he was a son of the late D. D. Knight and Thelma H. Knight. Dickie was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He retired from General Telephone Company, Tuomey Hospital, and was later employed with Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. He was also a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by 4 sons, Michael Knight (Kim), Steve Knight (Cheryl), John Knight (Linda) and Charles Knight (Tammy), all of Sumter; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope Knight Peavy. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
