Obituary of Deloris Thames McCoy

Deloris Thames McCoy, 80, widow of Elvin James “Red” McCoy, died Thursday, March 10, 2022, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Miles Thames and Susie Weatherly Thames. Mrs. McCoy was a retired employee of Exide Battery Company. Surviving are a son, Mark McCoy (Beckie); a daughter, Patricia Norton all of Sumter; 9 grandchildren, Mickel, Kirk, Ashliegh, Amanda, Charlotte, Jamie, Kacie, Kristie, and Shannen; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy McCoy; three brothers, Miles Thames, Jr., Julius Thames and Walter Thames. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Aaron Reed officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. Sunday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
