Obituary of Betty Jean Jennings Griffin

Betty Jean Jennings Griffin, 84, widow of Melvin Richard “Sam” Griffin, died Thursday, April 21, 2022, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Louie Jennings and Edna McLeod Jennings. Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she was a retired licensed practical nurse at Tuomey Hospital. Surviving are four sons, Melvin L. Griffin of Buford, GA, Danny R. Griffin (Ginger) and Benny C. Griffin all of Sumter; a sister, Annette Altman of Lake City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Griffin and a son, Cale L. Griffin: 3 brothers, Larry Jennings, Raymond Jennings and Wayne Jennings. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Bishop Mark Judson, Whit Whitaker and Rev. Kenny Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
