Obituary of Roberta Kirby Coker

Roberta Kirby Coker, 88, widow of Alvin Coker, died Friday, July 15, 2022 at the Gardens at Sumter. Born in Cades, SC, she was a daughter of the late Woodrow E. Kirby and Isla Tyler Kirby. Mrs. Coker was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church and was retired from Belk Department Store with 40 years of service. Surviving are a son, Randy Coker (Lisa); a daughter, Lisa Mellon (Jim) all of Sumter; a sister, Nancy Kirby of NC; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Price (Brad), Jamie Mellon, Jonathan Coker, Laura Welborn (Travis), a great-grandson, Foster Price. A great-granddaughter is expected to arrive in August. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth G. Kirby and a sister, Frances Kirby Elliott. Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Brearley officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
