Obituary of Faye Weatherly Montalbano

Faye Weatherly Montalbano, 77, widow of James Ira “Jimmy” Montalbano, died Friday, December 30, 2022, at Covenant Place in Sumter, SC.
Born September 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Benjamin Weatherly and Nettie Brown Weatherly.
She is survived by nieces, Helen Hardy McGovern (Terry) of Albany, OR, Lydia Lawrence Johnson (Tom) of Sumter, SC and Jan Weatherly Ridout of Sequim, WA; and by nephews, Philip L. Lawrence (Harriet) of Mount Pleasant, SC, Dan Hardy (Carolyn) of Charleston SC, Charles Hardy (Becky) of Kure Beach, NC, Richard Hardy (Katie) of Raleigh, NC, C. B. “Buddy” Weatherly III, of Los Angeles, County CA, and Charles Lee Weatherly of Port Townsend, WA; and other great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marsha Montalbano Aull and Theresa Montalbano Ray both of Sumter who were her loving caregivers since July of 2019. She is also survived by nieces, Becky Ray Wheeler, Summer Ray Cribb, both of Sumter, SC and Ginger Aull Baggette (Kyle) of Florence, SC and one nephew, Jason Aull (Tena) of Leland, NC; and other great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, C. B. Weatherly, Jr. and three sisters, Evelyn Weatherly Hardy, Nellie Viola Weatherly, and Pauline Weatherly Lawrence.
Faye leaves behind her small cat “Prissy” with Marsha and Theresa and her beloved dogs “Scooter” and “Barney” who have both been adopted by a loving couple in Myrtle Beach, SC.
A former resident of Greensboro, North Carolina for the past 50 years, she and Jimmy owned and operated a furniture store, American Accents in High Point, NC. She was a graduate of Mayewood High School.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 6, 2023, in the Sumter Cemetery with Rev. Joey Durham officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150 or to a charity of one’s choice.
