Obituary of Idona Huggins King Bowman

Idona Huggins King Bowman, 97, widow of Loyd Bowman, died Saturday, May 20, 2023 Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Samuel L. Huggins, Sr. and Marena Simmons Huggins. Mrs. Bowman was twice married first to the late J. W. King and then to the late Loyd Bowman. Mrs. Bowman was a charter member of the former Pitts Presbyterian Church where she served in all capacities in the Women of the Church. She later became a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was currently a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. She was also a charter member of the Bland Garden Club and was instrumental in beginning the Alice Boyle Garden Center Building. Surviving are one daughter, Anne B. Geddings of Sumter; two step-daughters, Sharon Hubbard of Delaware and Carol Mahan of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Lisa Rosdail (Eric), Traci A. Lynch (David), and Worth Geddings; three great-grandchildren, Dustin & Taylor Lynch and Bailey Rosdail. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Huggins and Alvin Huggins; and two sisters, Adair Cordray and Carolyn Berth. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M Tuesday, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stuart Mizelle and Rev. John Ropp, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Alice Drive, prior to the service.
