Obituary of Rex Coots

Rex Coots, 91, widower of Lottie Geneva Lowder Coots, died Thursday, August 3, 2023, at his home in Sumter.
Born in 1932, he was the son of the late William (Bill) Coots and Orlena Baker Coots.
He is survived by two sons Rex Coots, Jr. (Sue) of Burkburnett, TX and Roger Dean Coots of Rapid City, SD; seven grandchildren, Tonja Marie Wood (Joshua), Christen Elizabeth Coots, Jessica Anne Coots, Rex Coots III (Stephanie), Christopher Dean Coots (Crystal), Sandra Annette Spain (Nick), and Blane Tyler Coots; twelve great-grandchildren, Nathane Travis Deeb, Tyler Drake Bonfiglio, Jaiden Thomas Wood. Taylor Rose Coots, Lillyanne Laurie Coots, Noah Nickolas Spain, Abbigail Annette Spain, Korbyn Tyler Coots, Haddlie Kristine Coots, Gracie Mae, Kynnadi Dawn, and Kodee Raine Coots.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Coots, Henry Coots and Pearl E. Coots; nine sisters, Faye Coots, Emily Coots Welling, Alice Coots, Mollie Coots Maggard, Bessie Coots Adams, Mavy Coots Maggard, Edna Mae Coots North, Iona Coots North and Jewell Coots Hacker.
Mr. Coots was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant with 26 years of service. His primary duties were in the Traffic Management Office as the Senior NCO. He was a life member of the Air Force Association and the Retired Enlisted Association. He was also a U. S. Air Force and military hobbiest.
He was a faithful member of the Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Brett Gardner, Pastor Paul Howell, and Rev. Larry Christopher officiating.
Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
There will be a family visitation Friday, Augst 11, 5-7 PM at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at the church.
