Obituary of Jimmy Russell, Sr.

James Cecil “Jimmy” Russell, Sr., 90, husband of Marilyn McLeod Russell, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 24, 2023, at his home.
Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Cecil Russell and Elizabeth Atkinson Russell.
Mr. Russell was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and served in Korea. He was formerly employed by The Item and was a retired photographer. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and served on the Baseball Committee. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Christian Golfers Association.
Surviving are his wife of Sumter; 1 son, James Cecil “Jimbo” Russell (Lynn) of Sumter; five daughters, Jennifer Swift (Brian) of Roebuck, SC, Tina Russell of Sumter, Susan Hollister (David) of Greenwood, Phylis Bishop (Jimmy) of Moncks Corner and Renee Ward (Brandon) of Manning; two brothers, John Allen Russell (Mary) and B. J. Russell (Renay) all of Sumter; four grandsons, Micheal Bishop (Courtney), Jennings Hollister (Avonlea), John “J.J.” Ward, and Coleman Ward; six granddaughters, Tiffany Rodgers (Wayne), Renee Tolson (Billy Joe), Natalie Bieber (Andrew), Jessica Shaw (Austin), Kristina Langdale (Josh), and Jade Ryan Hollister; eight great-grandchildren, Larry Wayne Rodgers III, Logan Rodgers, Addison Rodgers, Lane Rodgers, Briar Tolson, Stormy Bishop, Eliana Langdale, and Oaklee Langdale.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. Monday at Southside Baptist Church.
