Obituary of Susan Elaine Smith

Susan Elaine Turner Smith, 68, died Sunday, August 27, 2023, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Whit Turner and Bessie Louise Turner. Mrs. Smith was retired from the Sportsman’s Stop N Shop. Surviving are her children, Bessie L. Skelton (Carlos) and Jessica “Katie” Irick (Richard) all of Sumter, Edgar M. “Bobo” Smith (Misty) of Charlotte, NC, and Donna R. Hair (Joshua) of St. Matthews, former daughter-in-law, Dana Boykin Smith; seven grandchildren; her siblings, Norma Jean Osteen, Thomas W. Turner, Jr. (Margaret), and James R. Turner (Hope); a special niece, LeeAnn Cox. She was preceded in death by siblings, Warren D. Turner, Addie L. Turner, Frances Margaret Turner, and Mary Josephine Turner. Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Neal Welch officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Friday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 2640 Indigo Drive.
