Dewey became my Papa when I was 6 years old. He was the only grandfather I knew on my maternal side. He had no issue stepping up and welcoming my sister and I as his granddaughters. Nana and Papa would go dancing on Friday nights and take us with them, we always would fall asleep on the car ride home and he would carry us to our beds and tuck us in. Papa took me on my first motorcycle ride down pinewood road. When I would stay the night with them, he and I always woke up before Nana so Papa and I would make our cheerios with bananas and find something to do in the yard. In his later years, he and I grew closer. We would do yard work together and often he would stay with me if Nana had a doctors appointment. I would take him to get lunch and dessert, usually ice cream, and he would tell me about his younger years working on cars and buses. Papa was the grandfather to me that he did not have to be. He was above and beyond anything I could have ever asked for. I loved him so much will miss him for the rest of my life until I see him again.

A piece of my heart broke on 09/07/2023. Our time together was brief, but exciting. Memories live on. I missed you again today. I will all day, everyday. You were part of me- my other half- my life! I will never forget you and will hold you forever in my heart until I hold you again in heaven. Together we conquered strife and had many victories. We shared laughs and tears walking hand in hand- our love remaining strong. I know you are watching over me, my protector, my lover, my everything. I feel your love everyday and feel you near, still loving me. You fought with all you had and now you are no longer suffering, my precious love, at peace and whole again. I miss your smile, your gentle touch, I felt safe in your embrace. My heart aches, tears fall. I have realized the blessing’s our union together created, it helps deal with the sadness and yearning for what we had.

Dewey and Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. You will be on my mind, in my heart, and in my prayers while you are through this very sad event.
I understand the heartache, because I to have lost my father. And we are all very blessed that we still have our moms.

Dewey became my 2nd dad and my children’s Papa when he married my mom, Jeanne. He was a welcomed addition to our family and we loved him very much. We will always cherish the fun times, the laughs, our family travels, kid functions, his storytelling, fishing, boat rides, guitar playing, geocaching and his smile! We thank God for sharing him with our family and we feel Blessed to have known him and for having us as a part of his life.

There are so many memories I can't possibly write them all ...the 1st time you , Sylvia,Gail and Ashley came to our house in NY for vacation...such a great time. And all the times you and Jr.came here to go hunting in the cold and snow.....such fond memories Don and I have. ....Don will surely miss you as will I ...but you are now with the love of your life forever.
