Hello Vicki Ann,
Eric, Clifton and I are so sorry about your mother's passing. We have so many fond memories of Edna Mae that it is hard to choose. My favorite (Lynn) is of my wedding where your mother blessed me with allowing me to wear the garter passed down in your family ( it was the old, borrowed and something blue) your mom and dad took my wedding photos as well. Eric's favorite was when Edna Mae came and stayed with us. Her "music" with her guitar and mom(Nancy on the piano)
having (Patsy Cline) sing-a-longs. She was an awesome "Lady" and we can't tell you how much we loved her.
With much love and sympathy
Eric,Lynn and Clifton

I only met Sandy in person a few times through my in-laws, who were close friends. Over the past few years, being able to communicate with her by phone and letter was a great joy. The dedication she displayed in assuring that the Vietnam POWs would not be forgotten is beyond noteworthy. She was a bright shining star at a time when our country was struggling with effects of Vietnam. May she rest in peace now with Bob and may we left behind find peace and comfort through her memory.
(I submitted a condolence thru Dignity, but seems it did not get through to this one. A memorial was sent in her memory to the Wounded Warrior project.)

I am so very sorry for your loss and will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I have such fond memories of my Cousin Edna and I when we were young. I loved spending the night with her and we would play all day with our dolls and just enjoyed spending a lot of time together growing up. I was blessed to have such a wonderful childhood buddy who was like a sister to me. May God give you all peace and comfort during this time. I am comforted to know she is in a much better place with the love of her life.
Sending love and condolences,
Jean Surrett Willis

Hi Vicky Ann – It’s been too many years since our paths crossed but my heart has been with you since I heard the news of your mother’s passing.
I have so many fond memories of your mother. I remember like it was yesterday, the early morning phone call to my mother (Peggy) to let us know that your Dad was alive. There was half-laughing/half-crying during that call. (Incidentally, I wore your Dad’s POW bracelet but didn’t have the heart to break it when he came home.) Somewhere I have a copy of Edna Mae’s record, POW-MIA. How wonderful to have her voice memorialized! Your mother also had Southern charm, grace and manners befitting an officer’s wife.
I loved visiting with your Mom and Dad – it was like going to a museum. Your Mom would show us her Turkish rugs and French paintings and mementos from her trips around the world. She definitely had a flair for design! I regret that I never got the chance to go antiquing with her.
Your Mom could tell a good story – I remember her telling about meeting Johnny Cash (and his need for some dandruff shampoo!) and how tiny Pat Nixon was.
Vicky Ann, my heart breaks for you but I hope the happy memories of your Mom will comfort you over the next few difficult days. If there’s anything I can do for you, don’t hesitate to reach out. We only children must stick together.

Vickey Ann. It has been many years since I have seen you and your Mother, but I have many past fond memories of Edna Mae. I remember her and Bob’s beautiful wedding, how handsome he was and what a beautiful Bride she was. Little did I know, I would be borrowing her veil for my wedding. I remember many good times at Uncle Andrew and Aunt Iva’s home when we were growing up, with Lois, Bud and Edna Mae.
I remember the day your Dad came home after being a POW for 7 years and how we all were so happy and excited for you and your Mom.
I think the last time I saw Edna Mae was at a Worley Reunion and we went back up to the Home Place and gathered around and sang Hymns.
I can still hear her calling my Mother ( Aunt Geneva), I loved to hear the way she said it.
You will always miss your Mother, but my prayers are for peace for you in the days ahead. You have been faithful to her.
My Mother was Geneva Worley Clark.
I am Patricia Clark Roberts Grogan.

Vicky Ann - Edna Mae was one of my favorite cousins. I loved spending the night with her at Uncle Andrew and Aunt Iva's house. Edna Mae could play the accordion and we'd sing and dance and act silly. In our adult years, she epitomized grace and strength, especially during your Dad's captivity. She was always so very proud of you. I hope you cherish the happy memories; they will carry you thought sad days. We love you and will keep you in our prayers.
