Obituary of Lula Kate Chatham Davenport

Lula Kate Chatham Davenport, wife of Raymond C. Davenport, died at age 89, on Monday, November 9, 2015.
Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Georgia Eagerton Chatham and the late Phares Elwood Chatham, Sr.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Susan Elizabeth Davenport and Louise Davenport Fudger (Jack); one son, Raymond Forbes Davenport, II (Mary Ellen), all of Sumter; an honorary son, Edward Cribb (Linda) of North Carolina; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jennie Ruth Geddings of Sumter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Catoe and Elizabeth Atkinson; two brothers, Phares Chatham, Jr. and Oscar Chatham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Getz officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 P.M. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran School or St. James Altar Guild, 1137 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
