Obituary of Lorraine M. Moriarty

Lorraine M. Moriarty returned to her Heavenly home on Saturday, September 16, 2023. She was the second of six children born to John and Ruth Klinger. She attended St. Cornelius School and Cardinal Stritch High School in Chicago, IL. She met her future husband Francis at Skil Saw, where they both worked. She, in the Engineering Department and he in the Production Department. They were married in St. Cornelius Church on September 6, 1952. Surviving are six children, John Moriarty, Francis Moriarty (Cyndee), Margaret Korn (John), Lorraine Barone (Tom), Jim Moriarty (Donna) and Tom Moriarty; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing the accordion and the organ and loved to crochet. For several years, her lap blankets went to the VA for those who had served. When she was in the nursing home, she was the source of joy for many when family members distributed hand-made quilts. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Anne & St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 1855 Beckwood Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
