Obituary of Robert Barkley, Sr.

Robert J. Barkley, 86, widower of Travis L. Nesbitt Barkley, died Friday, December 29, 2023 at home. Born in Sumter he was a son of the late Rutledge Barkley and Emma Jones Barkley. Mr. Barkley was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are sons, Tommy Wadford (Judy), Tod Wadford, Danny Barkley, James Barkley (Tonya), Robert Barkley, Jr. (Melissa), Emory Barkley (Tasha), one daughter, Teresa Hall, a brother, Jack Barkley, a sister, Dorothy Ingram, numerous Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at Bible Fellowship Church with Rev. Neal Welch and Rev. Paul Goff officiating. Burial will follow in the Wells Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon - 2 P.M. at Bible Fellowship Church.
