Obituary of Steven Rivers

Roy Steven Rivers, 76, husband of Joanne Sims Rivers, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Abijah Rivers and Pauline Vandenburg Rivers. Mr. Rivers was a member of Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He retired from Gold Kist and was a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; a brother, Danny Glen Rivers (Linda) of Franklin, VA; a sister, Kathy Rivers Brown of Sumter; three grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Brooke Coward and Dylan Coward. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Barney Phillip Rivers and John Wayne Rivers. Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Emore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M.
