Chief, Nelson, Bunton was a dear friend, mentor, and a fellow Christian and member of Shaw Heights Baptist Church, where I attended from 1982 through 1991. I’ll remember him from his advice given to me for Air Force and for ministry and for his van that he drove everywhere.

Having known the Buntons my entire life, I have such great memories with Mr Bunton. We were neighbors for 30+ years. The bottle rocket wars to the climbing over the fence with a tall ladder til we got the gate, to sneaking their dogs over to play because we didn’t have dogs. It’s was a great childhood with the Buntons as neighbors! I’ll cherish the memories.

I only knew Nelson for the past two years, but he and Virginia have been an inspiration for me. I’m glad I joined Shaw Heights Baptist Church and had the privilege of knowing them.

My condolences to the entire Bunton Family as I had the opportunity to work with Nelson both at church and in the military. He was strong in his faith and served so many years as a deacon in Shaw Heights Baptist Church. My family served along side his family in so many different ministries. We were blessed to have known and served with him for many years.
