Obituary of William "Buddy" Levern Barkley

William Levern “Buddy” Barkley, 83, husband of Louise Johnson Barkley, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late William Noah Barkley and Mae Ardis Barkley. Mr. Barkley was the owner and operator of Barkley Electric Company. He attended Southside Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of Sumter; one sister, Dorothy Hughes and husband Billy of Sumter; two grandchildren; one stepson, Edward O. Johnson (Lois) of Colfax, LA. Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Johnson, Rev. Jim Johnson, and Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Monday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
