Dr. Jones was the best dentist my family could ever have. All my four children loved him. He put them at ease by talking about things he knew they were interested in so that any trepidation they felt about reclining back in that chair was soon forgotten. He just had a way about him. He also always took the time to answer my questions, no matter how silly they may have sounded to him. We respected him greatly. It doesn’t seem possible that someone so full of life could be gone. We are truly sorry for your unimaginable loss and are praying for your family.

You have my heartfelt condolences and prayers.
I considered Tommy a good friend and colleague.
Words I came up with:
Godly Christian man, loyal, loved his family, loved to talk about his family, always heard Jeanie’s name some where in the family talk, incredibly talented family dentist (which is the most challenging discipline of dentistry of any profession for that matter), baseball man and loved all aspects of the game, favorite number 3, relentless worker, liked to win, life long learner, lots of friends who loved him as he did them, good eyes, great smile and better grin,
He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Jeanne, Rick, Mike , Jeff, Russ, and Cale,
I am so sorry for your loss. I joined the Jones clan as their babysitter and later went to work part one in the dental office after school when Jeanne was expecting the twins. If you ever met the Jones family and worked with them in any capacity you became like family. I thought I had the coolest after school job ever. And the love of dentistry he gave to me , I will never forget. It was a pleasure being part of this office crew with Ms Lois Jones,Jeanne, Donna Debbie, Susan, Sherry. I hope I didn’t miss anyone. What a great crew we had.
Prayers for strength and comfort.

Dear Jones family, please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. I am devastated at Tommy’s passing. Tommy has been my friend for more than 50 years. We met as freshmen at The University of South Carolina in 1967. We were freshman roommates our first semester, until Tommy moved to the “Roost” with the baseball team the second semester. We became friends quickly as we navigated the challenges of college life. Tommy was very organized, I was not, but I improved from his example. For some reason we referred to each other as T. Jones and C. Boykin, possibly this was on our room assignment papers, I don’t know. We were in college and dental school together. I got 2 yrs behind Tommy when I joined the National Guard for 2yrs after my Sophomore year in College due to my very low Draft number, ha. In college I observed Tommy’s firm dedication to his studies and a drive and commitment that I admired and endeavored to emulate. One thing I noticed about T. Jones early on was that his walking gate was a lesson in determination, commitment and confidence. As he walked along the flat sidewalks of campus, he had the gate of someone climbing a mountain with singleminded commitment and determination. This was T. Jones! He approached his studies with the same attitude and excelled at everything he undertook. Over the years our families have followed our children’s activities together and had many pleasant social gatherings. I wish our families had had more time together than we did but the children’s activities and families of their own took us in different directions much of the time. I’ll miss you T. Jones and hope God will grant your family and loved ones the peace and comfort that only He has the power to give.

I extend my sincere condolences to your family. Dr. Jones took care of some of my family members' dental needs for over 40 years. Dr. Jones was always so energetic, friendly, and conscientious about caring for his patients' dental health. His retirement left me and my family members in a quandary, happy for him but sad for us because there was now a void. We felt as though we had lost a family member. The memories... He was my dentist from a child to an adult. He also provided dental services to my entire family and my son who is now 18 years old. Not only was he my dentist he was also a past employer. One of the most hard-working people I have ever met! Tommy worked hard teaching the young men baseball as gifted as he was. Of course, Tommy would because everyone knows the Jones Family as a Baseball Legacy. The lovely sweaty jerseys from Wilson Hall that I had to count at the end of the year has not been missed for sure; but the gift Tommy gave them boys the knowledge and legacy is a true honor for sure! The fun days in the dental office. The Christmas parties and the stories he told. His laugh that was genuine and contagious! The fun days of making a video of the employees at the time I worked. Dropping beers and running down the hallway to imitate Donna was good for a laugh and true to his humor. Not only the video but convincing a total stranger to meet me at lunch to ask me on a date. Or trying to imitate Johnny Carson one Christmas and me wearing red lipstick and a turban. Don’t ask! The love he gave to his employees and working to make everyone smile. The best dentist for sure! Not only dentist, but boss and friend! The nicknames he gave people and the care of him always asking about others when you saw him. The love he had for his family. Alice Drive will not be the same as his sneakers will not hit the sidewalk again. Nor going to get x-rays or get a dental cleaning and hear his mumbling circle something sealant something buckle this or that. Even wearing sunglasses you can’t beat the look that Dr. Jones gave wearing them. Because he wore them best! His crazy Corvette days with toothbrushes in his cup holders. The gross sardine and cracker lunches will never leave my memory of the “Good Old Days.” Dr. Thomas P. Jones, DMD, is truly one of my best bosses I have had! The fun he made the office and he truly cared to hear about you or your family when you came in. And man the BEST Damn Dentist! Great friend and wonderful man! You will be missed sweet friend!
