Miriam Lucille Mathis McLeod, 95, widow of Richard Coleman McLeod, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Lila Lee Mathis. Mrs. McLeod was a member of the Sumter First Church of God. Surviving is her daughter, Marilyn McLeod Russell of Sumter; four grandchildren, Phylis Bishop (Jimmy), Renee Ward (Brandon), Michael McLeod, II (Javen), Ashlyn Coker (Walker); four great-grandchildren, Michael Bishop (Courtney), Kristina Langdale (Josh), John “J.J.” Ward and Coleman Ward; four great-great-grandchildren, Stormy Bishop, Eliana Langdale, Oaklee Langdale and Atlus Bishop. Mrs. McLeod was predeceased by a brother, Lester A. Mathis, a son, Michael Allen McLeod, and her son-in-law, Jimmy Russell. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Ward, John “J.J.” Ward, Coleman Ward, Mark Ward, Buddy Holladay and Jay Feeney. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. Monday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Ellen Keefer, Missy Jenkins and Betty Murray of Prisma Health Hospice.
