Obituary of Richard F. Martin

Richard Freeman “Butch” Martin, 73, husband of Myrtle Joanne Brown Martin, died Friday, June 24, 2016, at his home. Born in Pinehurst, GA, he was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Sr. and Mary Cooley Martin. Mr. Martin was a member of Promise Land Ministries. He was a U. S. Army veteran and was a retired Civil Service employee. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Amy Cathaleena Martin Higgins (Timothy); two brothers, Woodrow W. Martin Jr. (Charolette) and Ronnie Martin (Lynette); two sisters, Tiny Phillips and Loretta Jackson; six grandchildren, Chase Lewis, DaKota West, Ashley Rayson, Erin West, Brian Higgins and Crystal Hudson; seven great-grandchildren, Tyrin West, Emma Rayson, Nyla Rayson, Rylan Rayson, Noah Rayson, Grayson Higgins and Addison Higgins. Funeral Services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. James McElveen officiating. Burial will be in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Monday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
