Obituary of Evelyn P. Glidewell

Sarah Evelyn Plowden Glidewell, 81, widow of Tommy C. Glidewell, died Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Emmett Plowden and the late Vera Azilea Gamble Plowden. Mrs. Glidewell was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a retired Registered Nurse at Tuomey Hospital. She also taught nursing at Central Carolina Technical College. Surviving is a son, Tommy Charles Glidewell, Jr. and wife Sherry of Sumter; a daughter, Vera White and husband Douglas of Sumter; a brother, C. E. Plowden, Jr. of James Island, SC; four grandchildren, Christie Stutz (Matt), Shawn Levendoski (Mike), Noah White and Annalise White; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Laura Ann Way. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Stuart Mizelle officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
