I never met Mr. Coskrey. However, I often saw him sitting in his yard entertaining his many friends, both human and canine, when I went on walks down Purdy Street in the evenings after work. Although we never met he would wave when I passed. He was obviously a very friendly person as evidenced by his many visitors. I am sure he will be missed .

I count myself among the many, many fortunate enough to have been befriended by Sonny Coskrey. He was a genuinely good man and I cherish the times we were able to break bread together. Sonny, the ribs we ate may have been great, but the stories you shared were far greater. He was my pal, he was a fellow naturalist and he could've charmed Aimee away from me if he had more time on this earth. Sumter has lost a terrific soul.

An amazing man who embodied all of what it means to be a native born South Carolinian. Hunting, fishing, family, and friends are what made him so special……especially to those passing by on Purdy Street.
