My sincere condolences to Speaker Schwartz's family on his passing.. He was a dear friend , mentor and employer for many years of his service in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
I will always remember him for his loyalty to the University of South Carolina, his lifelong friends and to his beloved Sumter. He was a man of great intelligence, compassion, and humor. He appreciated the work of his staff in the State House and loved every day of his public service. We who were privileged to work with him will miss his steady leadership, wit and wisdom.
