This week when I have been thinking so much about Evelyn my main thoughts have been how fully she lived life. We all knew the same Evelyn. The one that was so kind and generous to each of us. Perhaps that is why she lived to ninth-three because she had so much goodness to give to each of us in this troubled world. As a stranger to Sumter I could have been a lost soul. No, she took me under wing, helped me in so many ways and showed me how to live a life full of kindness and love. She stood by by side when I needed help, laughed with me, and showed more than anyone how to stay young and happy no matter what your age. Thank you, Evelyn, for all that you gave me.

Mrs. Evelyn was a dear friend to my mom, Pearl Turner. She was one of mom's most faithful visitors before and after mom was moved to assisted living and then National Health Care. She was such a sweet lady. I will always remember the selfless love she showed to my mom.

Our sincere condolences and deepest love. Evelyn Rembert is one of the very best highlights of my childhood. I remember hiding under the clothes racks at Sumter Dry Goods, ready to greet my Grandfather Boots Keith. Evelyn was always there, smiling, and ready to give a kiss! She loved everyone SO WELL and made everyone feel so special with her warm, kind greetings. I am looking forward to greeting her again in Heaven. She was one among Ten million trillion! Her laugh, her style...she always smelled good. We loved her so much, and send our deepest sympathy to those that adored her too. Love and Prayers, Alison and Family

My goodness...when has Evelyn not been a part of my life!! From being a member of the large, loving Stafford clan, to seeing her as truly a fixture at Sumter Dry Goods. She spoke her mind and was always impeccably dressed. She took loving care of her precious Marion until he gained his angel wings. My condolences to not only her immediate family, but to those of us in her extended family that loved her. We have lost another piece of our hearts...Jean and Joe Graham

I am so sorry for Mrs. Rembert's family. Mrs. Rembert was my first boss when I began my job at Sumter Dry Goods. I made signs in the store and was then promoted to ladies wear. I made the tags that went on all of the clothes. She took care of me through my years of growing up. She would talk my Aunt Ellen into letting me have more youthful clothes. When it was time for me to go to college, she along with Mrs. Wheatley and Mrs. Ferguson bought me new clothes to take to college. When it was time for me to get married they gave me a shower and outfitted me for my honeymoon. Mrs. Rembert taught me so much in my young life about work ethic, kindness, and generosity. She loved and cared for people, but especially her husband, children, and grandchildren. I saw that everyday in my life as a teenager. She was one in a million. Of course, she kept me humble. I was horrified when she would send me as a 15 year old down to Cut Rate Drugstore to buy Malox for her. What if someone saw me. She would just laugh. In fact I can still hear that wonderful laughter. I loved her. I was blessed to have her in my life. Heaven gained and angel. My deepest sympathy to her family.

To the family of "Miss" Evelyn,
I have many wonderful memories of your Mother! She was a good friend to my Mom and Dad. I used to refer to their group of friends as "the jet set"! I think she might be the last one to join them in heaven! She also was so much fun to shop with at Keith's!! Please know you are all in our prayers! Becky and Rusty Wilson
