Obituary of Andrew Dale Leighton

Andrew Dale Leighton, 93, husband of the late Phyllis Dix Leighton, died Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at National Healthcare.

Born December 8, 1923, in Otsego, Michigan to the late Alvin D. Leighton and Bessie Leighton, he graduated from Michigan State University.  He was a certified public accountant and retired partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.  He served in the U. S. Army during World War II.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, South Carolina.

Dale was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey M. Leighton (Joanna); one grandchild, Paige E. Leighton; a sister-in-law, Frances C. Dix and nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth L. Leighton ; a sister-in-law, Doris W. Leighton; and a brother-in-law, Richard E. Dix.

A family memorial service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Anderson, South Carolina with Rev. Dennis Tedder officiating.

The family extends its appreciation for the comfort and care provided by the entire staff of National Healthcare Sumter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
