Obituary of Louise Mathis Byrd

Louise Mathis Byrd, 93, widow of Henry W. Byrd, Sr., died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at National Healthcare Center.

 

Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Mathis and Bessie Dority Mathis Croft.

 

Mrs. Byrd was a member of Temple Baptist Church and she was retired from Campbell Soup Company.

 

Surviving are six sons, Henry W. Byrd, Jr (Elaine) Bobby Byrd (Ann), Lucius Byrd, Terry Byrd (Debbie), Paul Byrd (Christine), and Mark Byrd (Teresa); 15 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Mathis, Jr.; a sister, Ruby McLeod and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Timmons Byrd.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Magaw and Pastor Terry Byrd officiating.

 

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Byrd, Jimmy Byrd, Greg Byrd, Stephen Byrd, Daryl Mitchell and great-grandson, Zachary Byrd.

 

The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. Monday at Temple Baptist Church.
