To the Davenport family. My condolences. While working at the SC State Budget Office I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Davenport. He walked into the office carrying a beautiful picture of the “Governor’s Mansion”. I was fortunate enough to purchase his signed and numbered painting. It was my honor to meet such a talented gentleman. The picture is hanging on the wall in my home.

We are so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. He was a wonderful and very talented man! We have many of his pieces throughout our house. My daddy (William Carl Bell) adored Ray and looked up to him tremendously. I really believe these past few days of these beautiful sunrises have been Ray and daddy painting them for us from heaven. God bless your family.

To the family, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your parents. I knew Ray through your mother, who was my first boss at the Sumter County Health Department. I worked with her for 15 years. He would frequently come by and he was always smiling. Both of them were wonderful friends and I know they will be missed in the Sumter community.

Mr. Davenport was as fine a gentleman as I ever knew in Sumter. His painting and lithographic artwork of Sumter and Swan Lake will adorn many homes and offices for years to come commemorating his love for such. Will Gore

I had the pleasure of taking care of Mr. Davenport here in Sumter at Covenant place. I was his nurse for a while and he was such a great man. I would like to send my condolences to his daughters whom I met while caring for him. He will truly be missed. I can tell that he was a very special man and his legacy will forever live on. R.I.P. Mr. Davenport may you spread your wings and fly, no more pain and suffering.
