Obituary of Helen King McLeod

Helen Carolyn King McLeod, age 80, beloved wife of 61 years to Lawrence Walter McLeod, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at her residence.

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Harold Francis King and the late Wilma Player King Cox. 

Mrs. McLeod was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Sumter.

She is survived by:  three daughters, Laura O’Neal (Joseph), Lisa McLeod (Michael Crouch), Linda Thomas; two sisters, Patsy Deas and Pamela Davis (Jimmy); two brothers, Gary Cox (Virginia) and Roy Cox (Roxie); eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Scott Thomas; her brother, Warren King (Loren); her sister, Ann Marsh (Bobby).

Graveside services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Nathan Falco officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. Thursday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.

The family wishes to thank Caris Hospice of Sumter, SC and the caregivers who worked so hard to allow our loved one to remain in her home and to pass with dignity.
