I wanted to reach out to you during this sad time to offer my condolences. While nothing will completely take away your grief, by meditating on God's promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. I have found the scripture at Isaiah 25:8 to be especially comforting. Here it promises that God "will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."

Revelation 14:13 KJV
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me: Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
My belated condolences to LeeAnn and the family of Dr. Painter.
When I attended Alice Drive Jr High in the 8th grade, Dr. Painter was my principal.
LeeAnn and I were classmates in 1, 2 or more classes. I'm sure she doesn't remember me.
Even as an 8th grader I could feel the genuine care and concern that Dr. Painter had for his students.
He will truly be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you all. Dr. Painter was an amazing principle when I was in school. He is the one that taught me that school is getting us ready for the real world, a lesson I taught my son. God bless you all

I send my deepest sympathy to all of you. I had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Bill for most of my life. It was a joy to be a baby sitter to Lea Ann, Tommy, Lara, and Hayne and later to work with Bill at School District 17 when I began teaching. My most treasured memory of him was how he was always so encouraging in all stages of my life. From dating advice in my high school years to until most recently, asking how each of my children were, remembering them each by name. He lived a good life and I'm so thankful that he cared and shared so much for his church and community. With much love, Mildred

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Telling something everyone already knows: Dr Painter was a wonderful man. I served with Dr Painter on the Santee Lynches Cog and in those interactions, really enjoyed his stories and appreciated his warmth along with his depth of knowledge about government and society. He was a gem and a true gentleman and will be greatly missed.

We are so sorry for your loss. Dr. Painter (Bill) was a wonderful man. He never missed a chance to stop and speak anytime our paths crossed. He has been a tremendous contributor to the Sumter community in enormous ways for so many years. His dedication to Sumter was immeasurable. He was also special to me personally as I returned to school to finish my graduate degree with Troy State. God Bless you Dr. Painter.

On behalf of the staff at Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to your family. Your husband/father/grandfather/great-grandfather was a stalwart supporter of the work accomplished through our agency. He championed regional collaboration on a number of issues that will benefit people for years to come. He was a servant of the people who truly cared. We pray the peace of God which surpasses all understanding comforts you during your time of mourning.

I was blessed to know Dr. Painter for many, many years. I worked for him at Sumter School District Seventeen from 1986-1989. We had many opportunities to reconnect through the years at First Baptist Church, USC Sumter (where I worked from 1989-2013), and in the community. I can honestly say he was one of the finest men I ever knew. His loving and caring spirit was evident to all who knew him and I can't imagine him not being around Sumter with his contagious smile. My condolences to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members, and friends. Rest in the arms of Jesus, now, my friend.
