Obituary of Mildred M. Ramey

Mildred M. Ramey, age 92, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Potomac Place Assisted Living in Woodbridge, Va. Born in Sumter, S.C., Mildred was the daughter the late Clifton M. Morgan and the late Maurice C. “Pete” Morgan. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church and the Garris McCoy Sunday School class for many years. Mildred served as Past Matron of Sumter Chapter 188 Order of Eastern Star, Past Grand Esther of the Grand Chapter of SC and held numerous other positions within the organization. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia D. Lynn (Don) of Occoquan, VA, sons, Eugene DuCom (Linda) of Sumter and Samuel (Sammy) Ramey of Dardanelle, Arkansas. She is also survived by sisters, Evelyn Mitchell and Joan Brashear (Walt) of Sumter and brother, Clifton M. Morgan of Fayetteville, NC, 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Ramey and daughter, Barbara Ramey Dunning, brother, Carlisle Morgan and sister, Beulah (Sugar) Marie Greer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 13, 2016, in the Chapel of the Elmore-Hill-McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home.
