Aubrey Hatfield Sr., 94, widower of Betty Saunders Hatfield, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Born November 2, 1924, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Arthur Julius Hatfield Sr., and Addie Cato Hatfield.

Mr. Hatfield graduated from Edmunds High School and attended Clemson College.  He was a graduate of the Palmetto School of Aeronautics in Columbia, SC.  He worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Columbia, SC Air Base.  He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.  He was a member of Sumter American Legion Post 15. 

Mr. Hatfield served as President of Hatfield’s Auto Parts Company.  He was a former president of the South Carolina Automotive Parts Association, the Southern Automotive Show, the Sumter Jaycees, the Sumter Kiwanis Club and served as a former trustee of the Sumter Cemetery Association.  He was a charter member of Alice Drive Baptist Church.  He was at various times a Deacon, Sunday School Director, Training Union Director and Assistant Treasurer.

Surviving are a son, Aubrey Hatfield, Jr. (Earlene) of Sumter; two daughters, Karen Hatfield of Aiken, SC, Becky H. Williams (Keith) of Ecuador, South America; three grandchildren, Amy Moss (Tony) of Sumter, Hunter Williams and Blake Williams both of FL; two great-grandchildren, Molly Moss and Mason Moss of Sumter and an adopted sister, Priscilla Cato DuBose of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Arthur David Hatfield; two brothers, Arthur Julius Hatfield Jr. and Myron Hatfield; two sisters, Anna Ruth H. Muldrow and Gwendolyn H. Windham.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with Dr. Clay Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. Saturday prior to the service at the church.   

Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Windham, Wyatt Windham, Tony Moss, Eddie Muldrow, Hunter Williams, Blake Williams and Wayne Morris.
