Ms. Kinder was my high school sewing teacher in 1992-1993. I am writing this today to tell you how she impacted my life. She saw the talent inside of me and made it grow. I have been sewing no stop for almost 30 years and have taught my 4 daughters to sew. I have done costumes for community theatre. But what I think she would be most proud of is what I have been able to do with what she taught me. 8 years ago I started a sewing ministry where my daughter's and I make clothes and send them to needy women and children all over the world. We have sent dresses to 44 countries on 5 continents. We even help to build a sewing school for orphan children in Africa. We have sent feminine hygiene kits to Africa so young girls could stay in school. I could share so many pictures and stories how people have been impacted.
The love for sewing that she brought out of me has made an enormous impact all over the world. I only wish I could have been able to tell her what she did. I am so very thankful I was able to be in her class. The 2 dresses in the pictures went to 2 little girls in Africa.
If there was ever a teacher to impact a student's life in a great way, it was her that impacted mine.

I fist met Sylvia by sitting with her at DAR. That was the beginning of a nice friendship. She was so likeable and pleasant. We enjoyed each other's company. I really missed her when she went away. With Sympathy, Mary Glenn Givens (Mrs. L.B. Givens).
