To the family of Jimbo. I'm sorry for your loss.
I'd like to share a story on how My wife and I met Jimbo. We were on vacation (we're from Illinois) in 1976
and had just driven up from Flordia. We had no particular plans as far as what or where we wanted to go.
Having already checked into a motel near Myrtle beach. We drove to a park boarding the ocean near Pawleys Island. While I rested under the shade of a tree. My wife took my daughter and son out for a walk. They met a guy who struck up a conversation with my wife. He invited us to the house he was staying at on the ocean front.
The house reminded me of an old paddle boat in the way it was constructed. There he introduced us to the owners son Jimbo. He invited us to stay for lunch. Then he offered to put us up for the night. We went back to the motel and picked up our luggage and went back to the house. He was having several of his and his sisters friends staying there. But he said we could spend the night in the house next door. Turned out that's where his parents stayed when they came up for the weekend. We slept in the lower level.
We spent several hours visiting with him and his friends, until they left to go see the Almond Brothers in concert. Unfortunately we had to leave the next morning to start back home.
I never forgot the kindness that Jimbo showed my wife and I. And I did get to see him once more when he came up to take some classes at the National institute of dry cleaning in Joliet Illinois. He spent a night at my condo and we ended up going to a blues club somewhere on the south side of Chicago. We were the only white guys in the place. But the main attraction was I believe Muddy Waters. But I could be mistaken.
The way I found out about Jimbos passing is I was playing online poker and there was a guy with the name Jimbo NC. So I searched on yahoo and found his obituary.
Both my wife And I are saddened at his loss. His random act of kindness has stayed with us through all these years. The world was definitely a better place with him in it.
With sincerest regards,
Gene & Cathy Gremley

I came to admire and respect Jimbo as a great son and a brother and a father and an uncle in the short time that I knew him years ago. He was one of the kindest and most generous people that I've ever met. He was a positive influence on me as I'm sure he was for countless others. I will think of him and his beautiful family often.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Jimbo's loved ones for the loss of such a special man. Kim, the memory of seeing Jimbo in the hall in Columbia's Baptist Hospital almost 28 years ago is just like yesterday;you and I had just had our first children, and his face said it all. He will be missed by so many.

Jimbo was such a good boss to me and later, a friend. It gave me great comfort knowing that he said I had a job to come back to anytime. I am just sorry I didn't know the struggle and battle he was going through. Rest easy, my friend. God has taken you home. Kim, I know that God will give you the strength that you need to get through the days to come. He will give you the comfort and peace that you need. Hold close the wonderful memories of good and special times, and know the Lord is with you. Hannah and Dow, your dad was such a special man and had so much compation for the people that worked for him. I pray that God gives you lasting memories of your dad. Be close to your mom, as she will need you more now than ever before. Dear Lord please be with the entire Harrelson family and give them comfort, as only you can. Amen
