I just learned of Tommy's passing today. It certainly has been a sad year all the way around. I was a KA Brother to Tommy and what a gentleman and great guy. I am saddened to learn of this and send my thoughts and prayers to his wife family and many friends.

Dearest Boo,
I am so sorry to hear of Tommy’s passing. T. White was the consummate Southern Gentleman and was loved by everyone he ever met. I was so blessed to have had Tommy as my first roommate as a KA. The times we shared, whether playing pool, basketball or working at The Library Club will always be remembered as some of the best times of my life.
Please know that you and you’re family are in all of our hearts and prayers.
Love to you and Tommy in heaven.

Tommy was a very special person and one of my best friends growing up in Sumter. He was Maverick and I was Goose. I was his wingman. We double dated because he had that sweet Ford Mustang and could borrow his parents black Lincoln called “The Tank”. I remember many nights shooting pool at his parent’s house eating Cheezits and drinking Coke. We used to put Cheezits in the mouth of the fish mounted on the wall and laughed when weeks/months later it would still be there.
We played basketball in Junior High and High School as well at the Y. Tommy was our point guard with a sweet jump shot. At Alice Drive Junior High, Tommy was part of their first undefeated team going 14-0. We all wrote the undefeated season goal of 14-0 about mid-year on the toe of our black low-top Converse All-Star shoes. Our toughest opponent that year was Bishopville which we beat at their gym by around 8-10 points. When they came to our place Coach Rusty Bouton said that if we beat them by 15 points we wouldn’t run, if we beat them by 25 points we wouldn’t practice. I think we beat them by 30 and Rusty ran our tails off saying that he didn’t say what would happen if we won by 30. Tommy beat me every time running line touches. I think that was because he was pretty fast or maybe it was because I was pretty slow.
When Tommy and I played on the Sumter High JV team and we were down 1 point to I think Conway. Tommy worked the ball around and got it to me on the wing with 3 seconds left and I buried a 20’ jumper to win the game. We celebrated that victory at half court as the buzzer range. He was da’ man around campus.
At USC, Tommy was my roommate with John MacArthur (Mac) and Mike Moore (Mikey) as suitemates in Maxcy. He was one of the original Sumter Bad Boyz. He loved eating burgers from Burger King and watching The Young and Restless. He saved me when I was in the women’s dorm after the 12 midnight curfew. Tommy drove to pick me up and timed it perfectly as I ran out of the elevator, through the lobby and hopped on the hood of his car, driving away before campus security arrived.
He was one of the groomsmen in my wedding. Tommy, Mac and Mikey broke into my car and filled it with crickets and put fish in the glove compartment, on the engine and lifted up the back seat and put another one there. I threw crickets out of my car for a week. Dead ones flew out of my cars AC vents. Later when Tommy and Boo got married, his car was nowhere to be found.
I will never forget the great times Tommy and I had together. He was an awesome person, great friend and will be sadly missed. Prayers for Boo and the family.

Dear Boo, I was so so sorry to learn of Tommy’s passing, just earlier today. I hope you and your family receive some comfort from your friends, your neighbors, work associates, and the Lord. While I didn’t know him, Tommy certainly seemed to be a good-hearted man, from what I’ve read. I certainly will be praying for all of you. Sincerely, John Duffy

Dearest Boo and Family my sincere condolences in the passing of my KA brother Tommy. Please know I will always cherish his smile and his great friendship for so long when at USC with so many fine men. He was very special to so many people. I know he is resting in the house of the Lord forever.
I will always give thanks for the special memories and laughs, fun playing golf, shooting pool, he was the best, round of hearts or spades with the guys and T Bone. He loved his family dearly, he loved life and friends, and his Gamecocks true forever to thee!
It’s those moments that shine so brightly full of memories we must celebrate his life and give thanks to our Lord for the times we had we so very special. May the Lord comfort each of you and his close friends in the days ahead and fill our hearts with the Love and strength to help us endure.
With Deepest Sympathy to your entire family, Loved you Tommy RIP
