Obituary of Joan Constance Weatherly

Joan Constance Steeve Shoemaker Weatherly, 79, widow of Lt. Col. (USAF Ret) A. T. Weatherly, Jr., died Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her home with her loved ones around her. Born in Danville, PA, she was a daughter of Retired Navy Commander J. Howard Steeve and Mary Adams Steeve. Surviving are one son, James Allan (Johanna) Shoemaker of Charleston; two daughters, Mary Faith (Garry) Cockerill and Susan Leslie Shoemaker all of Sumter; two step-sons, Kurt F. (Melissa) Weatherly of Atlanta, GA and Michael E. Weatherly of Hilton Head, SC; one step-daughter, Shawn Weatherly (Chip) Harris of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Susan (Ken) Bowering of Canada; four grandchildren, Max Cockerill, Jr., William Cockerill II, James A. Shoemaker III and Kathryn Shoemaker. Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Steve Williams officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service and other times at the home of her daughter, Mary Cockerill. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt and was affectionately known as “Connie Grams”.
